Description

This hands-on introductory course will introduce the fundamentals of 3D-modeling in Rhino. Students will learn how to build 3D models and prototypes with the NURBS-based modeling tools in Rhino using essential tools and techniques such as curves,  surfaces, and solids. The course will cover strategies for drawing curves and modeling 3D objects, editing geometry, and rendering and exporting designs.

Topics

  • Understanding 3D terminology
  • Comparing Bézier curves, B-splines, and NURBS objects
  • Navigating the viewport
  • Manipulating objects with commands
  • Creating curves, surfaces, and solids
  • Performing basic transformations
  • Making solids with primitives
  • Extruding curves
  • Snapping to objects and planes
  • Trimming, splitting, rotating, and copying objects
  • Working with NURBS and seams
  • Preparing a 3D Model for 3D Printing
